"What is involved? what you are paying for
On a simple one camera shoot, we set up the camera on a tripod, set up the 8 track hard disk recorder, set up 8 microphones, take a sound check and record the performance...next step....we upoad the 8 tracks of audio to a high end audio software (Cakewalk Sonar) then one by one we eq and add pan, volume changes and effects to each of the 8 individual tracks. ( each track is for one instrument with the exception of drums which usually uses 4 tracks) Next we master the audio and burn a CD and save the audio file to sync to the video..
Ok the audio part is all set, lets get to work on the video.... First off we upload the video files from the camera to a powerfull video editing software (Sony Vegas). Now that we have the the video on the software we begin adding graphics, effects fades, transitions.
On a multiple camera shoot editing work doubles or triples..First all the camera files have to synchronized and then each section of the shoot from each camera has to be cut out put together on a single line as you can imagine, this is time consuming making the multiple camera production more expensive.
Ok now that the video is all edited, we now upload the sound file to the video software. We now synchronize the sound and the video. Not done yet....
Next we have to process this completed project 2 times the first time we render the file for upload to youtube and the second file we make a movie for a DVD. The two files are different but the the video looks and sounds the same although the DVD will be at a better quality because the youtube compresses the file when they receive it so it will not take so much space on their website which lessens the quality somewhat.
Lastly, we send a sample of the video the the client for approval, and if it is ok we collect the balance owed and send off 3 files on Disk. An audio CD, a DVD and the file for upload to youtube. ( we can upload the file for you to youtube or show you how.
This is what it takes to produce a quality video.....do not let anyone fool you by caliming there is an easier way with an expensive camera or software the does it with one click.
The difference of a camera shoot directly uploaded from the camera to youtube or DVD is quite obvious...
